Dr. Makkiya is passionate about providing comprehensive gynecologic care to her patients.
Dr. Makkiya is American Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP). In addition, she has a keen interest in caring for cancer survivors, including breast cancer survivors, to manage their menopause and sexual health issues. Her dedication to this important aspect of women's health is highlighted by her recent appointment to the Global Development Committee of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH), where she continually enhances the care she provides to her patients.
Dr. Makkiya is also proficient in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including both vaginal hysterectomy and robotic surgery, offering her patients the latest techniques for optimal outcomes and faster recovery times. Furthermore, she is certified by the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA), reflecting her expertise in the evaluation and management of ovarian tumors.
Dr. Makkiya has also volunteered in free clinics, providing gynecologic care to underserved populations, demonstrating her commitment to making healthcare accessible to those in need. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, pilates, swimming, and spending time with family and friends.
